Can my filter be cleaned or does it need replacement?
All Injen Air Filters can be cleaned using cotton gauze air filter cleaners and oil that can be purchased from most major auto part stores. We suggest cleaning the filter every 30,000 miles or when it becomes visibly black in color. We recommend examining the filter every 9,000 miles.
Will adding after market products void my warranty?
The Magnusson-Moss Warranty - Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act of 1975 protects consumers from such fradulent activity by new car dealers. Under this Act, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer's orginial warranty, unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicle's warrany or if it can be proven that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure. The easiest way to check this is to look in your owner's manual under, "what is not covered". Under Magnusson-Moss Act a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before they can deny warranty coverage. If they cannot prove such claim-or offer an explanation- it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty. The Federal Trade Commission (202.326.3128) administers the Magnusson-Moss Act and monitors compliance with warranty law.
Will water enter my engine if I install a cold air intake?
No, although water can enter the engine if the filter becomes submerged in water. Rain splashes and small puddles generally do not cause hydrolock. If the filter becomes submerged in water it could cause hydrolock and cause damage to the engine. We do not recommend driving through deep puddles and or floods. Most filters lie 12-14 inches above the ground. You may add a device to prevent hydrolock but cutting the intake system for installation will void our manufacturers warranty.
Will a car type "A" intake fit my car "B" since they share the same engine?
Possibly one intake may fit many different makes and model vehicles but we can not guarantee fitment on any vehicle unless it is clearly stated and inteded for that specific make and model. Injen tests each product they make in both power and fitment specifically for each application.
Is it okay to change my filter to another brand or type?
You can change the filter but by doing so, you will be altering your intake system and voiding the C.A.R.B. status. During testing, Injen tests each filter design for type of vehicle and making sure that the filter will work in conjunction with the factory ECU and settings. By changing filter designs, it is quite possible that you will get a check engine light. We do not recommend changing the filter from what came with the original intake.
Do bends, tube length, and pipe diameter really matter?
Yes, these are key components to maintaining throttle response and optimum gains between horsepower and torque. Injen makes careful decisions in these areas through use of extensive testing.
