What is the Predator?
The Predator is a state-of-the art high performance tuning flash programmer, which advances the timing, optimizes the air/fuel ratio and remaps the transmission shift points (in automatic transmissions). Unlike other "tuners", DiabloSport’s programming is performed in very small increments throughout the entire RPM range, for a smoother, wider and a more predictable power delivery.
Predator is the ONLY flash programmer on the market to offer its end user sophisticated diagnostic features as well as the ability to log and monitor live data. You can monitor the recording on the Predator display, or download it to your PC and view it using our free Windows DAT Viewer. Use it for dyno or track evaluation.
In order to communicate to PC, you will need to get a serial cable and optionally a power supply.
Predator accepts custom tunes, for all and any modifications or combinations. These tunes can come through a simple e-mail from DiabloSport direct or through any one of our nation wide network of ChipMaster Revolution dealers.
Predator is a flash tool capable of growing with your vehicle as you make desired modifications, truly like no other on the market!
Can I use the Predator to diagnose (scan and run live data) on my friend's car?
Yes. For diagnostics, Predator doesn't lock itself to any vehicle, you are free to use it on as many vehicles as you wish.
Note: Predator is not a complete OBDII diagnostic tool, meaning it doesn't communicate to all vehicles in the parking lot. If you own a Predator for Ford, you can diagnose all OBDII compliant Fords. If you own a Predator for GM, you can diagnose all OBDII compliant GMs. The reason is that Ford and GM has different hardware interface. (Those feeling like dwelling little deaper in the subject, check out our automotive books written in a "Popular Mechanics" style...)
Will the Predator affect my warranty?
The Predator will not void or affect the factory warranty in any way. This is a very misunderstood subject in the aftermarket customer circles. There is a law protecting vehicle owners from just this fraudulent behavior practiced by automotive dealers. The Magnusson-Moss Warranty- Federal Trade commission Improvement Act of 1975. Under the Magnusson-Moss Act, aftermarket equipment, which improves performance, does not void a vehicles manufacturer’s original warranty, unless the warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids your vehicles warranty, or if the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure. Can the Predator damage my transmission or engine?
No. Through extensive research and sophisticated testing the Predator tunes are designed not to harm your engine or transmission. The adjustable parameters for fuel and timing can damage your engine if adjusted improperly, that is why we highly recommend that these parameters only be adjusted when proper monitoring tools are present. Neglecting to use premium fuel (unless specified) can cause severe damage to your engine.
Does the Predator require the use of premium unleaded fuel?
Yes, unless specified, all Diablosport performance tunes are designed for premium unleaded fuel. We also recommend that brand name fuel brands are used as well.
How will the Predator affect my fuel consumption or MPG?
The Predator generally gives an increase in mileage, however this is very dependent upon driving style. The increase in MPG is a by-product of maximized engine efficiency, improved timing curves and a more complete combustion of air/fuel ratio (ie: the engine extracts more power from each molecule of gasoline, hence better MPG). We also offer special lower octane files for use with regular grade fuel as well.
How hard is it to install the Predator Tuner?
As simple as pushing a few buttons. The complete install from saving your original factory tune to modifying and installing the Predator tune takes less than 10 minutes from the driver’s seat.
Where does the Predator plug into in my vehicle?
The Predator plugs into your OBD-II port. The OBD-II port is generally located on driver’s side below the dash.
